Vanity Sizing FAQ
How do I measure the available width for a vanity?+
Measure wall-to-wall at countertop height (about 34 inches from the floor). If there are baseboards, measure from the wall surface itself — baseboards typically add ¾ inch per side. If a toilet or bathtub is on one side, measure from the wall to the nearest edge of that fixture.
What clearance do I need around a bathroom vanity?+
Ontario building code requires a minimum of 21 inches of clear floor space in front of the vanity. We recommend 30 inches for comfort. On the sides, leave at least 1-2 inches for installation access and to avoid a cramped look.
What are the standard bathroom vanity sizes?+
Standard vanity widths are 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, and 60 inches. Our vanities are all 21 inches deep and 34½ inches tall (modern comfort height). The 60-inch model is available in both single and double sink configurations.
What if my space is between two standard vanity sizes?+
Always choose the smaller size. A vanity that's slightly smaller than the space looks intentional and allows for installation access. A vanity that doesn't fit is a problem. For example, if your opening is 34 inches, choose the 30-inch vanity.
Do I need to worry about plumbing position?+
Yes. Check that your drain stub-out and water supply lines align with the vanity's plumbing cutout. Most of our vanities have a centred drain hole. If your plumbing is significantly off-centre (more than 3-4 inches), you may need a plumber to adjust the connections. Contact us on WhatsApp for guidance.
How deep is a standard bathroom vanity?+
Standard vanity depth is 21 inches (including the countertop). All Modern Vanity products are 21 inches deep. In very narrow bathrooms (under 42 inches deep), consider a wall-mounted vanity or pedestal sink instead — our 21-inch depth vanities still work but leave minimal front clearance.
