Faucet Compatibility Guide

Our vanities don't include a faucet — here's exactly what to look for when choosing one, plus everything else you'll need to complete your plumbing.

Quick Compatibility Summary

Faucet hole specs:

Single hole, 1-3/8" diameter, deck-mounted

Compatible faucet types:

Single-hole, centerset with deck plate

Drain you need to buy:

1-1/4" pop-up drain assembly

P-trap size:

1-1/4" P-trap

Which Faucet Types Work?

Our countertops have one pre-drilled hole. Here's what's compatible and what isn't.

✓ Single-Hole Faucets

All controls (hot, cold, flow) in one body. Most modern, minimalist choice. Fits our 1-3/8" hole perfectly. Recommended for a clean look.

✓ Centerset Faucets with Deck Plate (Escutcheon)

Traditional two-handle centerset faucets come with an escutcheon (cover plate) that mounts over a single hole. Ensure the model specifies single-hole or 1-hole installation compatibility.

✗ Widespread Faucets (3-hole)

Require three holes drilled 8" centre-to-centre. Our countertops have one hole. Additional drilling on stone/quartz is complex and not recommended.

✗ Wall-Mount Faucets

Require in-wall rough-in plumbing. Not compatible with freestanding vanity cabinets.

What You'll Need to Buy

Your Modern Vanity includes the cabinet, countertop, undermount sink, and mirror. You'll need to purchase these items separately to complete the installation.

1

Faucet

Single-hole deck-mount. Budget $80–$400 CAD depending on finish and brand. Popular finishes: brushed nickel, matte black, chrome.

2

Pop-Up Drain Assembly

1-1/4" drain with overflow. Match the finish to your faucet. Budget $20–$60 CAD. Ensure it specifies "undermount sink" compatibility.

3

P-Trap

1-1/4" P-trap to connect the drain to your wall drain stub-out. Available at any hardware store for $15–$25 CAD.

4

Supply Lines (if not included with faucet)

3/8" braided stainless steel supply lines, 12"–20" length. Many faucets include these — check before buying separately.

5

Silicone Adhesive

The countertop and backsplash are shipped loose — you secure them during installation with clear silicone adhesive (100% silicone, mould-resistant). Budget $10–$20 CAD.

Faucet FAQs

What type of faucet hole does the countertop have?

Our countertops come with a single pre-drilled faucet hole, 1-3/8" in diameter, centred above the sink. This accommodates single-hole faucets and most centerset faucets with a deck plate (escutcheon).

Can I use a widespread faucet (three-hole)?

Widespread faucets require three holes drilled 8" apart. Our countertops come with a single centred hole. Drilling additional holes in a stone/quartz countertop requires a professional stone fabricator and voids the countertop finish warranty. We do not recommend this.

Does the vanity come with a drain assembly?

No. Our vanities include the undermount sink but not the drain assembly (pop-up drain). You will need to purchase a 1-1/4" drain assembly separately. Ensure it has a drain body height of at least 2" to clear the sink basin.

What faucet height should I choose?

For undermount sinks with a raised countertop, a faucet height of 8–10" works well. Taller faucets (10"+) add elegance but may splash if the sink basin is shallow. We recommend checking the sink depth (approximately 5–6") against your chosen faucet's flow height.

What P-trap do I need?

You need a 1-1/4" P-trap (standard bathroom sink size). Our vanities include a drain opening in the cabinet bottom sized for standard 1-1/4" drain pipe. Bring-your-own or purchase a P-trap kit at any hardware store for approximately $15–25.

Can I use a wall-mount faucet?

Wall-mount faucets require rough-in plumbing inside the wall and are not compatible with our freestanding vanity cabinets. Our vanities are designed for deck-mounted (countertop) faucets only.
